Monsters & Superheroes Theme Week

On Monday 19th November, the children of Aston Clinton School received the startling news that a monster had been found roaming the premises of the school. Fortunately it was captured early and held in a secure, dark and quiet place between classes 2DH and 2EK.

The monster, known as a Grundit, and native to the Chiltern Hills had also been spotted at other schools in the area. The pupils were quickly made aware of its needs (see below) so that they could do their very best to ensure it remained settled.

GRUNDIT LIKES: dark, quiet places, seeing other people happy

GRUNDIT DISLIKES: too much noise, bright lights

WARNING: Whatever you do, do not feed it cabbage!

For the rest of the week, the children remained vigilant whilst they produced some very interesting work. This included warning posters, information leaflets and newspaper articles. They enjoyed plenty of creative activities which involved music and dance, designing monster menus and even going on a monster hunt!

Following the news that the Grundit had escaped (having been fed some cabbages by an unknown person), and faced with the possibility of meeting the monster face to face, the children attended some 'superhero training' and designed and created a superhero costume for Mrs Shepherd.

Finally, the end of the week saw the children celebrating their hard work with a Monster & Superhero costume parade.

A selection of work from the week is shown below.
